BIOETHICAL BASICS OF CLINICAL ENGINEERING

A. V. Guschin (Гущин А.В.)

Abstract

In an attempt to study the phenomenon of clinical engineering we analyzed the status of a clinical engineer from the viewpoint of bioethical norms and principles. Feedback has been shown to occur between bioethical regulation practices which are applied in the development, testing and maintenance of biomedical equipment and clinical engineering science. A clinical engineer is a certified specialist who is able to comprehensively analyze technical and clinical failure which occurs when operating medical equipment and to draw conclusions which may be well considered in the context of bioethics. The clinical engineer must also be able to develop formal and non-formal guidelines, standards and to implement research findings in developing biomedical equipment and materials.

Key words: clinical engineering, medical equipment, life cycle, bioethical control, feedback.
